Seventh victory for Larsson despite rain chaos

Fredrik Larsson secured his seventh victory of the season despite a sudden rain shower at the end of the Carrera Cup Scandinavia race at Karlskoga.
“I had a perfect start, was able to race in my own pace and did not feel threatened. It became really slippery at some parts of the track when the rain came and it was nice to secure the victory,” said Larsson.
While Larsson pulled away in the lead, Robin Rudholm had a tough fight for second place. Martin Öhlin got closer as the rain increased in the closing stages of the race.
But the safety car was brought out with four laps left of the race because of the slippery conditions as all cars had started on slicks. Rudholm kept second over the finish line.
“It was hard when the rain started, I was not close enough to Larsson to see the braking points. But second place means important points for the championship, even though it is never nice to be second,” said Rudholm.
The rain increased with six laps left of the 17 lap long race and Öhlin was really close to Rudholm at the end.
“Rudholm slowed down quite a lot when the track got wet and I was able to close in. But it was a bit too wet and I did not want to risk anything,” said Öhlin.
Jan West kept fourth from the grid and secured his best place so far in Carrera Cup. The Westlife Racing-driver had a relatively calm race ahead of Roar Lindland in fifth.
Prince Carl Philip equalled his previous best finish with his second sixth place this season, ahead of Cemoni Ohlsson. 19-year-old Linus Ohlsson made a strong drive through the field from last on the grid to eight over the finish line.
“I had a strong pace and it was nice to cut through the field. But I would of course liked more laps,” said Ohlsson.
Mattias Stålknapp and Arne Jörgensen rounded off top ten.
The field was missing two drivers on the grid: Oscar Palm and Peter Jervemyr. The MPS Motorsport driver suffered from technical problems, the fuel pump according to our reports, while Jervemyr suffered from gearbox problems after the qualifying session.
