The new Carrera Cup-car has done its Swedish debut. Carrera Cup Scandinavia-general Thomas Johansson performed a first test at Karlskoga.
“It is a real beast, a bit more racing car, a bit more of everything,” said Johansson.

The car is based on the road car version of the newest Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
“The 911 GT3 RS is a legendary model with a successful history and we are very proud at Porsche Sweden to see the Swedish and Scandinavian debut of it with Carrera Cup Scandinavia,” said Bosse Janson, MD for Porsche Sweden.

The car is going to be introduced in Carrera Cup Scandinavia 2011 and it differs on a couple of important points compared to the current model.
“It is most telling in the engine, 3.8 liters and 450 bhp. It has got a lot of torque and when you reach high speeds, it just keeps pushing. The aerodynamics have also been improved, producing more downforce,” said Johansson.

Carrera Cup Scandinavia has been given 20 cars for the 2011 season by Porsche Motorsport in Germany and all of them has been pre-booked. Carrera Cup-general Johansson is working on getting an additional four cars.
“The interest is great and it feels extra nice now as we have got the new car in Sweden and it really meets all of our expectations. It is going to be really exciting to see all of the new cars in the championship next season,” said Johansson.

The car is going to be on scene during the Carrera Cup Scandinavia races at Karlskoga this weekend, both on display and driving on the track.
